OUR MISSION & ETHOS
Silva Kitchen and Bakery exists to reconnect people with the land through the shared language of food, craft, and creativity. Based at Wakelyns Agroforestry, we bake and cook where the grain grows, among the tree alleys and diverse crops of a living landscape. Our mission is to honour diversity in all its forms: from the genetically resilient YQ wheat we stone-grind for our sourdough, to the seasonal harvests that find their way into our wood-fired plates.
We view the kitchen as a studio where cooking and baking become a medium for expression and a bridge between land and imagination. Whether through a loaf, a communal meal, or a creative workshop, we work to build a resilient local food system that sustains the mind, the body, and the soil. At Silva, we believe that the sharing of food and stories is a living art, one that invites everyone to taste, see, and feel their place within nature.
